Do you write your own songs?

Yes

How many years have you been writing songs for?

10

What process, or processes, do you often find yourself using when you write songs?

When writing songs, I often find myself starting with a melody or a chord progression that resonates with me. I’ll experiment with different sounds on my guitar or piano, until I find something that sparks an emotional response or fits the mood I’m trying to convey. Once I have a solid base, I’ll start to craft the lyrics. For me, lyrics are a way to tell a story or express an emotion, so I spend a lot of time refining them to make sure they align with the overall feel of the song. Lastly, I’ll work on the arrangements, adding layers of instruments and elements to enhance the song and give it depth. This process can be iterative and I’m always open to changing things up if it serves the song.

How long have you been playing open mic nights?

1

Why did you get into playing them in the first place?

I was drawn to music from a young age. For me, it was a form of expression, a way to connect with others, and a source of joy. The feeling of playing an instrument, creating a melody, and seeing how it could affect people emotionally was incredibly fulfilling. It felt like a language that could transcend words, and that’s what initially drew me to it.

If it’s not already, are you hoping to make music your full-time career?
