Meet Italy-born UK Open Mic performer P CREMA:

P CREMA

Hi P CREMA, thanks for joining us! Let’s get into it:

Do you play solo only, or also in a group?

Solo

How old are you?

42

Where were you born?

Italy

Where did you grow up?

Italy

How did that place influence your music? (if at all!)

Very little, apart from getting me into the ’80s and ’90s computers as a kid and that now gives me a taste for old chiptune electronic music.

Where are you based now, and why?

London, work

What got you into making music in the first place?

Creating the OST for a friend’s videogame

What instrument/s do you play?

Music Producer
Chiptune from Amiga computers programming and random instruments like an otamatone and a saucepan with ladle
Chiptune from Amiga computers programming and random instruments like an otamatone and a saucepan with ladle

Who would be in your top 10 musical influences, and why?

Dubmood, Zabutom and Xyce for the chiptune, Isis, Cave in, Refused for the post hardcore metal and punk in my 20s, Red sparowes, Russian Circles for the post rock, Elio e le storie tese and Flight of the conchords for the randomness and the comedy.

Do you write your own songs?

Yes

How many years have you been writing songs for?

4

What process, or processes, do you often find yourself using when you write songs?

I seldom start from an idea, always proceed randomly note by note and see what happens.

Why did you get into playing them in the first place?

I’ll tell you later, but getting my foot outside for now

What advice would you give new performers who are just starting out playing their first open mics?

No idea yet

What’s the hardest thing, for you, about playing open mics?

That I haven’t played any yet.

What’s the most bizarre, or fun, open mic, or gig, you’ve ever played, and why?

Not an open mic, but a gig in the street which was also cyclable and had to avoid bicycles while playing, which I could barely see as I dress up as a duck and can’t see almost anything through the mask.

If it’s not already, are you hoping to make music your full-time career?

No

What’s the one truth about you that people often find surprising?

That I am not worried about a thing

What’s the most exciting project you’re working on at the moment?

One is confidential, the other one is composing a track with a friend by each making a 4/4 pattern and sending it back

Do you have your own music video, channel or playlist you’d like to share?

Do you have music on streaming? What’s you main streaming channel to send people to?

Where is the main place should people go to find out more about you?

https://pcrema.bandcamp.com

We’re done! Anything else you want to share before we go?

No thanks!
