Nika Timos
Meet St.Petersburg-born UK Open Mic performer, Nika Timos:
Hi Nika Timos, thanks for joining us! Let’s get into it:
Do you play solo only, or also in a group?
Solo
How old are you?
27
Where were you born?
St.Petersburg
Where did you grow up?
St.Petersburg
How did that place influence your music? (if at all!)
My home land injected me with love for music, it always will be a place, where I realize why I’m here and what I need to do in my life. Received music degree in classic music and knowledge in producing, I’m grateful for being born in SPB.
Where are you based now, and why?
London. Because, why not?
What got you into making music in the first place?
When I make music, I know that I’m doing everything right. When I don’t make music, I feel that I’m wasting my time.
What instrument/s do you play?
Singing, Piano, Music Producer, Beat Making, Ukulele
Who would be in your top 10 musical influences, and why?
Timbaland (well there should be no questions why!)
Ryan Tedder (creator of fantastic songs and all of it by himself)
Tove Lo (she is so cool!)
Selena Gomez (Every song is a hit! Her team makes a fantastic job with every track, and Selena is amazing in choosing songs for herself. She’s got a perfect music taste!)
Taylor Swift (Super strong woman)
Queen (Wouldnt be able to get over moody days without Show Must go on)
Bruno Mars (number one performer, producer, singer, songwriter and dancer. If I could I would prefer to be him)
Metronomy (Their music put me ina right mood)
Miley Cyrus (I grow up with her music)
Lily Allen (Because I moved to the UK and realized that she is British and I always loved her music)
Do you write your own songs?
Yes
How many years have you been writing songs for?
20
What process, or processes, do you often find yourself using when you write songs?
My process is no process. This mess in my head wakes me up during the night, or pops up when I’m really busy, but I have to stop doing everything else and start to write a new song. Maybe I’m just psycho.
Why did you get into playing in the first place?
I’ve got a horrible stage fright
What advice would you give new performers who are just starting out playing their first open mics?
Don’t worry. You’ll be better than me.
What’s the hardest thing, for you, about playing open mics?
My bloody hands. If I’m not playing, I have no idea what to do with them. If I’m playing, they are shaking like crazy and I just can’t control them.
What’s the most bizarre, or fun, open mic, or gig, you’ve ever played, and why?
Newcastle. It was a HUGE STAGE! HUUUUGE! I wasn’t ready for this. But eventually, it was amazing!
If it’s not already, are you hoping to make music your full-time career?
Yes
What do you currently find the hardest and biggest obstacles to moving your music career forward?
The most difficult part is to remind myself that I enjoy music and everything about it, when something goes wrong.
What’s the one truth about you that people often find surprising?
That I’m making my music by myself.
What’s the most exciting project you’re working on at the moment?
Just current project. Because every song I’m working on is making me pee my pants out of excitement.
Do you have your own music video, channel or playlist you’d like to share?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDY25aDFZYY
Do you have music on streaming? What’s your main streaming channel to send people to?
Where is the main place should people go to find out more about you?
What other sites/profiles should people go to to find out more about you?
www.facebook.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">facebook.com/nikatimos
We’re done! Anything else you want to share before we go?
No Thanks!
