Just trying my luck to see if I can meet great musicians that usually might be operating outside of my current professional circles
What advice would you give new performers who are just starting out playing their first open mics?
Have your sound techical requirements understood and sorted. Be prepared for last minute adaptations of it.
Focus on the quality if your performance rather than the theatrics of it or “rocking the room”.
Top quality performance will carry and deliver your artistic message with a lasting impact.
What’s the hardest thing, for you, about playing open mics?
Not having enough time to run a proper sound check
What’s the most bizarre, or fun, open mic, or gig, you’ve ever played, and why?
I once went with a dear friend of mine (musician) to an open jam at a place where the level of musicians is so high that you can only go on stage upon invitation.
I remember watching incredible musicians jaming there over a decade ago, thinking how amazing they are and how incredible would it be to get there one day.
It felt wholesome and humbling to finally be there and jam along my friend and other incredible musicians and hear how much they enjoyed the experience.
A perfect closure (:
