I moved to North West London in September 2018 so I could have my own writing space, and also a wider range of performing opportunities.
What got you into making music in the first place?
My family are musical, and I grew up playing a number of instruments, but receiving recording software for my 16th birthday set me off on creating my own music.

Singing, Piano, Guitar, Trumpet, Music Producer
Who are 3 of your top 10 musical influences, and why?
Ed Sheeran – a phenomenal songwriter, and the main reason I decided to start using a loop pedal.
Haken – A London-based progressive metal band with strong ambient and theatrical elements.
Steven Wilson – A master of storytelling through music.
Do you write your own songs?
How many years have you been writing songs for?
What process, or processes, do you often find yourself using when you write songs?
I record the demo as I write it, and the music comes extremely quickly. I have to think harder about lyrics, but the music is more important to me.
How long have you been playing open mic nights?
Why did you get into playing them in the first place?
There weren’t many performing opportunities where I grew up, so I began playing open mics in Newcastle where I went to uni.
What advice would you give new performers who are just starting out playing their first open mics?
Have fun. Everyone is there for a good time and you’ll enjoy it a lot more if you just relax and do what you do best.
What’s the hardest thing, for you, about playing open mics?
For me, lugging all of my equipment to various venues!
What’s the most bizarre open mic, or gig, you’ve ever played, and why?
If busking counts, I encountered some very odd characters in Newcastle.

Getting over procrastination

What is the most exciting project you’re working on at the moment?
My first EP in a new genre. I used to exclusively write prog rock/metal, and while I’m still largely influenced by that, I’m enjoying playing acoustic and electronic music right now.
